My 2 cents on the truth about Religion, Jesus, and the Davinci code



I just finished reading Da Vinci code and after spending two hours  reading all the debates on the web I am more confused then I was at first. The book makes some wild claimes that the Cathloic church and various scholars( mind you some of whom are Christian) debunk all of these facts as myths. That the "secret soiceties" are no more then esentric business men. That there no facts or historical documents  that Mary Magalene was Christ's wife and that they bore children. Even that the regious sects made everything up to gain political power.
Da Vinci was an artist. He painted the world as he viewed and obviously had something against the catholic faith. I believe that there is some truth in what Da vinci and the books author believes(even if it was twisted around to make the book more real and exciting).  Will we ever know why Moni Lisa is smiling?  Is that a woman next to Jesus at the last supper?  There is also truth that the Church villified the pagan religion and made sex the orginal sin. The truth is that we will probally be debating this for 500 more years even if someone brought hard evedince that Jesus Christ didn't actually die at the cross and rose there is equally hard evendence debunking the fact. All of this happened thousands of years ago. There is no way noone can actually know the real truth unless we were there. We just beileve what we believe. I personally would love to know the fact that Jesus was in fact a mortal man who didn't walk on water and had sex with his wife. It would make him more normal and wouldn't change my beliefs at all. Many normal people were made saints so why not Jesus.
I guess what I'm try to say is DAvinci code is a work of fiction so I don't understand why every one making such a big deal.
